As the home of the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Papers, Special Collections & Archives has an exhibit of select documents, photographs, and memorabilia dealing with Dr. Garcia's life and contributions. Presently, display cases feature Dr. Garcia's family background and early years; the origins and development of the American G.I. Forum; the Felix Longoria incident; Dr. Garcia in the political area; and highlights of Dr. Garcia's public service. The exhibit offers a wonderful complement for those persons coming to campus to view the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Plaza and statue.
The exhibit is located inside and directly in front of the Special Collections & Archives reading room on the second floor of the Mary and Jeff Bell Library.
Because of the changing nature of the exhibit, please call ahead at (Thomas H. Kreneck) 361-825-2301, (Grace Charles) 361-825-5771, or (Jan Weaver) 361-825-2300 for information on what is available for viewing at the time you plan to come. For library hours, please call 361-825-2643.
