Mary and Jeff Bell Library
Bell Library - Access Services Department
The Access Services Department is comprised of the Circulation and InterLibrary Loan service areas.
Circulation
The
Circulation Department is responsible for circulation of library materials
in the Main, Juvenile, Oversized, Government Documents, and Curriculum
Collections. This includes collecting fines for
overdue materials. Funds collected from fines are used to purchase
additional library materials.
The Circulation Department also provides Reserve materials for students. Reserves may be provided in print or electronic format, depending on the preference of the instructor placing the item on reserve. Required textbooks may be placed on Course Reserve if the professor chooses to place the textbook on reserve. Reserve items may be located in the catalog by accessing Course Reserves.
The Circulation Department maintains patron records and issues Community User, Special Activities, and TexShare cards. Other responsibilities of the Circulation Department include the library alarm system, the public announcement system, and the daily opening and closing of the library.
InterLibrary
Loan
Interlibrary Loan is a service offered to current Texas
A&M-Corpus Christi faculty, staff, and students. Since no library can
possibly acquire all works published, the purpose of ILL is to obtain
requested materials from other libraries. The conditions of this service
are set by the Interlibrary Loan Code of the American Library Association
and by the policies of individual lending libraries. The Library uses
ILLiad software to process InterLibrary Loan. This requires that all ILL
requests be initiated online at the Illiad web site and
first-time users
must set up an account prior to using the system. Setting up the account
takes a few minutes but allows ILL staff to process requests and deliver
items to patrons more quickly.
